The Stranger Dissolves

I was contacted by Christina with the request to use one of my photos for the cover of her book of poetry. I was very impressed with her work and gladly collaborated with her for the cover shot.

Christina Hutchins

“Christina Hutchins’ The Stranger Dissolves is an exquisite debut volume. This superb collection is elegant, impassioned, and consistently wise in its reckonings. Few poets so carefully embody the mind’s oscillations during reflection, and the beauty of Christina Hutchins’ poems is simply beyond measure. More than any first collection I know, The Stranger Dissolves melds both mind (intelligence and thought) and heart with a startling complexity, intricacy, and intimacy. Early Morning on the Intracoastal Water way

Stitched Panorama of the Intracoastal Waterway

Stitched Panorama of the Intracoastal Waterway (click for full size image)

This is a 180 degree panoramic shot from Ballard Park over looking the Intracoastal Way Way near the Eau Gallie Causeway. The timing was a trick to catch the sun peeking over the horizon. The trick is to get enough light but not so much you leave half of the shot under or over exposed. I thinking of printing this out for a wall mural.

  1. Remove camera from case.
  2. Remove battery from camera and put it in your pocket.
  3. Place towel on flat surface.
  4. Place camera on top of towel.
  5. Fold towel over camera until it is completely covered.

Primary Flight – Day 2

Primary Flight took place during Art Basel 2010 in Miami’s around the Wynwood Arts District. Graffiti & Street artists took over the wall of the Wynwood Arts District with permission of the building owners. It was an epic event, I had a bit of an apprehension to being in Miami industrial district  at night. I have to say I was wrong, the area was crawling with artist everywhere, the air had a good vibe. Every one was very chill and in to the scene. I was jaw dropped over the work I saw, it was amazing to meet and talk to people from around the world that had come to Miami to take a can of spray paint to a wall.

This images are shot with a Canon 5D MK II, I used a number of techniques to get the shots. I want to capture the interaction of the artist and their work
