Primary Flight – Day 2

Primary Flight took place during Art Basel 2010 in Miami’s around the Wynwood Arts District. Graffiti & Street artists took over the wall of the Wynwood Arts District with permission of the building owners. It was an epic event, I had a bit of an apprehension to being in Miami industrial district  at night. I have to say I was wrong, the area was crawling with artist everywhere, the air had a good vibe. Every one was very chill and in to the scene. I was jaw dropped over the work I saw, it was amazing to meet and talk to people from around the world that had come to Miami to take a can of spray paint to a wall.

This images are shot with a Canon 5D MK II, I used a number of techniques to get the shots. I want to capture the interaction of the artist and their work

World’s Largest Street Level Mural Installation
Primary Flight’s annual project is the world’s largest event of its kind. Primary Flight has featured over 250 world class artists from around the globe, the majority of whom travel to Miami for Art Basel. Artists from all walks of contemporary art headline our annual event. Artists collaborate on high profile walls throughout Miami’s urban landscape.

Here is my collection of images from the first day, I was incredibility impressed with the artists and there work.

My first “LOL”

I love http://icanhascheezburger.com/, one of my most favorite sites. They have may spin off sites as well, one of them is “Happy Chair is Happy” http://happychairishappy.com/. I liked how people could see a face smiling in objects in there suroundings. I started to look and train my eye to see things in a new way. I was waiting for a train in Penn Station in New York when I saw the party hat on the trash can. I stood up the hat, wiped out the Canon G10 and snapped off a few images. A few days later I submitted it to the site. The image got voted up to be on the site. It was my 5th attempt at getting an images posted. I have more to come…

dull spring time morning

Not an image you would expect taken in Florida spring time. I have been taking walks to get out of the house. I pic a theme I want to explore and take my pocket camera with me and walk. I try to find a new perspective to places I have been before. I use the camera as a tool to document my view of my surroundings. I have found that images I shoot are a reflection to my moods and feelings for that day. I wonder what these images says…
